The DOF TRADENET Project Management Office (DOF TRADENET PMO) together with the Bureau of Customs and Tariff Commission (TC), facilitated the 2nd ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature (AHTN) Classification and Identification Workshop last May 26, 2021 through virtual conference. The objective of the aforementioned workshop is to ensure that all import and export transactions are in congruence with international laws and standards. MISTG Deputy Commissioner Allan C. Geronimo during his opening remarks highlighted the correct classification of goods using commodity and tariff codes as part of customs compliance and for setting a common reference of import and export restrictions.
The AHTN Code Identification and Classification Workshop forms part of the onboarding activities in line with the calibrated onboarding work plan for 2021. The 2nd batch focused on the classification and identification of agriculture and food related commodities being used by the 6 priority agencies namely: Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), and Food and Drugs Administration (FDA).
